TRAVEL TIPS
C Some major carriers have special programs which allow a disabled person to travel with a companion who can provide assistance. Both people travel on the same ticket. Check with the bus lines for details.
C Verify in advance that the terminals you'll be using have the services you need. Ask the line to notify ticket agents along your route so they expect your arrival.
C In making reservations, find out where and when you'll have to change buses. You may even have to change terminals. Choose the route fewest changes.
C Guide dogs for the blind travel free.
C Buses are not the best way to travel The aisles are narrow, and the restrooms are usually small and located at the back of the bus.
C Interstate Commerce Commission regulations prohibit buses from denying seats to disabled persons traveling regularly scheduled routes. Bus companies must provide assistance to disabled travelers who require it and equip new terminals to meet their needs (lower telephones and water fountains, wider doorways, etc.).
